Unfortunately, this page only give details for windoze versions of IE.
This is a Mac version. I have searched and searched since version 4.5 and
never found any HTTP 1.1 setting in the Mac version.

The page above claims my browser is not setnd the Accept-Encoding: gzip
line.

It took me TONS of complaining to get MS to FINALLY add the pragma:
no-cache header for a super reload. They ept saying it wasn't needed. So I
showed them how the PC version of IE did it, and that version worked right
through proxies (this is another issue altogether, having nothing to do
with mod_gzip, per se.)
