somebody describe how to handle files which are precompressed.

Ok, I have a file named "log.js" which is static.
I compressed it to "log.js.gz"
Everything works god except that I have to change the URI in the browser to 
get that file to "log.js.gz".

Is there a way to get that precompressed file via the original URI "log.js"?
