This seem a lot of work for so little gain. So far all I have noticed is an
error message in the logs. I will just live with the error message, since I
do not want deal with the work around. Are there any other side effect other
then the error message that I should be worried about?

This module is great. I was putting out the idea since mod_gzip does not
handle request through port 443 and causes an error. All the while, Apache
can handle request through both 80 and port 443 through the same server
domain block. I would think that mod_gzip would exclude port 443 from a
standard install or have a way to exclude a port. That is why I made the
suggestion. From reading the archives I was not the first one with the
problem. I may not have been the first one with the suggestion. But I am
sure with more people using the module more will ask about the error message.

Just hoping it will get added later.

Thanks,
