As your PDF documents will probably not change very often, you may want to
consider pre-compressing them with gzip. mod_gzip is able to send these
already compressed files, for example mydocument4201.pdf.gz - I have not
used this feature myself so am not sure on the exact configuration
parameters, but there are messages about it in the archive.
