what do you mean with "code"?

Please post your mod_gzip configuration, the mod_gzip status
codes in your enhanced access_log and try to have a glance at
the HTTP headers of your output.

My crystal ball names "MIME type" and "handler name" as the
favorites for your case, but it may well be anything, as there
is yet very little evidence of what is actually happening.
