Apache says its using the module and 'apachectl configtest' says its
OK.....<br>

Other than that, I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be evaluating
those lines....<br>

Hm. If your CustomLog (which isn't mod_gzip specific at all, but
just a normal Apache configuration directive) doesn't work then
something in your Apache configuration seems to be broken.

Are you sure these lines are evaluated at all?
