[Mod_gzip] Apache 2: mod_deflate v. mod_gzip now moot

In my mind, my experimentation with Apache 2.0 and mod_deflate has now 
ended. I found a copy of mod_gzip 2.0.40 buried in a less than obvious 
place on the net and installed it. Needless to say, its compression 
performance almost exactly matches mod_gzip for Apache 1.3.x, which 
should surprise no one associated with the long and sordid tale of 
mod_gzip and Apache.

Sorry to see that mod_deflate is being offered by the Apache Group as an 
alternative to mod_gzip, because it does not match the compression 
performance of mod_gzip.

I will be updating the papers on my Web site to reflect the fact that 
mod_gzip is available for both Apache 1.3.x and Apache 2.0.x.
